ONE JAMAAT - ONE AMEER:
The Organization of a Muslim Community in the Age of
Fitan
by: Imran N. Hosein
This book first attempts a selective yet conclusive
demonstration of the fact that we now live in the age of
Fitan described by Prophet Muhammad (s) as the last age,
or the age which will witness the end of history. It then
points out that the Prophet (s) has given specific
instructions that Muslims must hold on firmly to the
(authentic) Jama'ah and to the Ameer/Imam (leader) in the
age of Fitan if they are to survive the great trials and
evil of this age with their faith intact.
The Jama'ah (also known as Jama'at) is the community
of believers organized as a united body, led by a single
male believer, and functioning in accordance with the
sacred law of Islam. It is precisely because the
authentic Jama'ah is indispensable for the survival of
faith of Muslims in the age of Fitan, that the world of
Islam witnessed that massive attack on the integrity of
its collective existence which culminated with the
destruction of the Caliphate in 1924.
Much of the book is devoted to an elaborate
description of the authentic Jama'ah - what it is, how it
is constituted and organized, and how it functions. It is
the opinion of the author that such an authentic Jama'ah
as described in this book does not exist in the island of
Trinidad (where this book is published), or in the rest
of the Caribbean. The author recognizes, however, that
very commendable efforts have been made by Muslims of
African origin to establish that authentic Jama'ah.
It is the duty of Muslims to promptly organize
themselves collectively as a single authentic Jama'ah in
whichever region of the world they may reside. The
Muslims of the Caribbean, therefore, or at least the
Muslim community of Trinidad, should be constituted as a
single Jama'ah with a single Ameer. Perhaps Muslims will
have to await the advent of Imam al-Mahdi before the
entire world of Islam (or what is left of it after
today's modern godless western civilization is finished
with its work of reducing all of mankind to godlessness)
will be organized as a single Jama'ah with a single
Ameer/Khalifa.
When once the authentic Jama'ah has been established
in any territory of the world it would become obligatory
for each and every Muslim individual, group or
Association in that territory to join the Jama'ah and
submit to the authority of the Ameer of the Jama'ah. The
Prophet (s) declared in his Farewell Sermon (Khutbah
al-Wida) that we should obey our Ameer even if he be a
black Abyssinian (i.e., a black man of African origin)
with a head (of hair) (as curly as) dried grapes or
prunes. If Muslims refrain from entering into that
authentic Jama'ah and from submitting to the authority of
the authentic Ameer/Imam, they will then face the
consequence of dying a death which was described by the
blessed Prophet (s) as death in a state of Jahiliyah
("fa qad maata maitatan jahiliyyah").
